Greetings Summoners,
It is with great sadness that we announce the retirement of 42 of the most classic skins from the League of Legends store. Starting January 2, 2013, selected skins, called Legacy Skins, will be going into the vault and will no longer be available for purchase. We might be able to coerce them to come out of retirement once in a while but we’re certain they’ll only do it under very special circumstances.
Naturally, all Legacy Skins will still be playable for anyone who owns them after they have been retired, and will still be visible to other players in game and at the load screen. You will have to own a Legacy Skin, however, in order to be able to view it in a champion’s profile. In the event that you’re the owner of a champion with only two skins remaining for purchase following this initiative, don’t worry! With the dawn of the new year, comes the promise of new and more awesome champion apparel. We have some fantastic new skins in development that we’ll be releasing in the near future.
Now, to celebrate their retirement, we will be putting them on sale before they go on hiatus. So watch out for announcements on the Legacy Skin Sales. Don’t miss your chance to pick up these awesome skins as they become collector’s items!
